Nelson
On any day of the week, including weekends and holidays, if you ask Nelson where he wants to be, he’ll say Meeting Street. If you ask him what he wants to do, he’ll say play with his friends at Meeting Street.

Nelson has experienced a number of developmental delays. About two years ago, he became a student at Meeting Street’s Bright Futures Early Learning program.

Nelson found it difficult to speak and would use his hands to try to communicate with his peers. Out of frustration, his behavior became very aggressive. He had no way to connect with the other children, which made him both angry and sad.

With the help of behavioral modification and speech therapy, Nelson began to find a way to interact with other children, but the biggest breakthrough came because of Meeting Street’s extraordinary audiology services.

Dr. Jodi Glass, Meeting Street’s audiologist, had been observing Nelson. She was convinced that his speech and behavior would improve dramatically if he could just get fitted with the right hearing aid. She started working with Nelson to get him used to the hearing assessment process and equipment so he would sit still and cooperate during the actual test.

Nelson is now an incredibly social student, very popular in his class, who, as his mother said in a recent interview, “...wants to go to Meeting Street seven days a week!”

“It is easy for me to understand why Nelson loves Meeting Street so much. The school has given him a new life. What Meeting Street has done for Nelson and our family is nothing short of miraculous. It’s truly a wonderful place with the most amazing teachers in the world,” the grateful mother concluded.

With our new fully inclusive campus, we now have the ability to support our excellent teaching and clinical staff even more and we can provide every child who attends, whether a child with a disability or a child without, with the best possible education.
