Mission: 'AFD is committed to the belief that disabled individuals should have the necessary resources to promote their well-being and self-sufficiency.' AFD fulfills a unique niche in the community and is widely known for its caring, qualified, and professional staff. These professionals help disabled people, and their families, who have no other resources to turn to, by providing the following services: helping to expedite requests for public benefits; educating clients and their families on the disability benefits system and the use of benefits; providing financial guidance and acting as Representative Payees when necessary; acting as a community resource for disability information; helping clients advocate for themselves or a disabled loved-one; influencing public perception of people with disabilities, and striving to overcome misperceptions and prejudices against the disabled, through outreach and education. AFD's clients are people who are disabled to the extent that they cannot work, or are children with disabilities. Operating since 1970, AFD remains the only organization of its kind serving disabled persons in Arizona. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
